about

~ half of sales go to Wuurn of Kanak, a local LandBack initiative ~ www.gofundme.com/f/wuurn-of-kanak-landback

'lateral learnings' is a collaborative project between thu care and three of their beloved friends: C, grrrb and sogobri

it is inspired by bacteria, virus' and other single celled ancestors that exchange knowledge to each other horizontally, in a process called lateral gene transfer. this means that instead of transferring dna from parent to offspring like plants and animals, genetic information is instead transferred directly to and from different bacteria and virus' (i.e. how bacteria learn antibiotic resistance & how new strains of virus' emerge). similarly this project centers on reciprocal relationships and the sharing of knowledge and stories to evolve, survive, heal and thrive together

image description: [a square image filled to the brim with native plants of Narrm's western plains. There are common everlastings, gold dust wattle, blue pincushions and austral indigo. The flowers are yellow, orange, purple, pink, blue and their leaves and stems are different shades of green. Overlapping the image are the silhouettes of 8 people and 1 four legged animal all holding hands. the silhouettes are done in water colour over the top of the image. a white border surrounds the whole image]
